This issue of Amendment 4 that has gotten a lot of traction recently in the past few weeks. If you live in Florida or have been watching the news recently, we have seen this talking point used by both political parties to put eyes on Florida just weeks before election day. Amendment 4 was even mentioned during the debate this past week since former President Trump is a Floridian. But what’s the truth behind this issue?
Florida has recently made great strides that protects the unborn with their heartbeat bill passed in April of 2023. But with a list of amendments being proposed to the Florida Constitution, abortion may be available on demand once again.
Amendment 4 is stated as such: No law shall prohibit, penalize, delay, or restrict abortion before viability or when necessary to protect the patient’s health, as determined by the patient’s healthcare provider. This amendment does not change the Legislature’s constitutional authority to require notification to a parent or guardian before a minor has an abortion.
This in turn will cause havoc in the state of Florida and eliminate all of the progress made by the pro-life movement in Florida. The enemy is at work, and we need to stand and speak up.
