Where is your focus?
Scriptures speak often to keeping focus on virtuous things, not on things of the world. Colossians 3 is a great example of this testament: “If ye then be risen with Christ, seek those things which are above, where Christ sitteth on the right hand of God. Set your affection on things above on the things of the earth.”
A practical lesson of this may be recalled in Driver’s Education training. Think of a teen learning to drive a car for the first time. For that new driver, there is the tendency to sway outside the lines of the road – struggling to keep the car down the center of its lane. What does the instructor tell their pupil? Your car will follow where your eyes are – stay focused in the center of the road, looking at your destination down the road and the car will follow.
Just as that instructor tells the student to focus on where they want to go, Christ also tells us to be focused on the righteous things above.
So where is your focus today? Are your eyes fixed on Christ’s instructions in His Word or the distractions of earth – because that is the path in which your life will follow.
